Our Services
Optical Microscopy Imaging in Transmitted and Reflected Light
Includes Bright Field, Polarized Light, and DIC (Differential Interference Contrast). Imaging is performed using an Olympus BX60 POL scope with a Spot Insight CMOS camera.
Cross Section of Samples for Imaging Using a Leica RM2165 Microtome
Samples are prepared at room temperature. Various sample types can be prepared for optical imaging, including paper samples, polymer films, fibers, foils, etc. Thickness measurements of layers can be made using the Spot software.
Preparation of Samples for Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
Samples can be faced off using a microtome and mounted for examination, or sent back to you unmounted. Client must provide SEM sample stubs and carriers, if sample mounting is desired.
Preparation of Samples for Infrared Spectroscopy
Samples can be cross sectioned and placed on glass slides with a cover-slip taped on for shipping. The sections can then be transferred at your site to the appropriate substrate for examination.

Wild M420 Macroscope with a Spot Insight 4 camera for documenting and imaging larger samples.
